Most reminder apps show a banner and play a short chime. If your phone is in a bag, face down on a desk or buried under thirty other notifications, that reminder is gone. A voice reminder app speaks the reminder to you instead, so you hear what you need to do, not just that something happened.
The short version: Remindavo calls your phone at the reminder time and a voice reads the reminder out loud, for example "Call with the bank in 10 minutes" or "Take your evening tablets". It works with reminders you create yourself and with the events already on your Google or Outlook calendar.
Why a call and not a notification? Phones treat incoming calls as urgent. A call rings louder and longer than a notification, shows full screen and waits for you to answer or decline, which makes it much harder to miss or dismiss without noticing.
Voice Reminders vs Normal Notifications
| Notification reminder | Voice reminder call | |
|---|---|---|
| How it arrives | Banner and a short sound | An incoming call that keeps ringing |
| What you learn | A line of text, if you look | The reminder, read out loud |
| Phone in a bag or pocket | Easy to miss | Rings until you answer or decline |
| Hands busy (driving, cooking) | You have to look at the screen | You just listen |
| Works on a basic phone | No | Yes, as a regular phone call |
Notifications are fine for low-stakes nudges. For the things that cost you money, health or trust when you miss them, a spoken reminder is the better tool.
How to Set Up Voice Reminders
Sign in. Create a free account at web.remindavo.com or install the Remindavo app on iPhone or Android.
Choose how you are reached. With the app installed, reminders ring like a call on your phone. You can also verify your phone number in Settings, and Remindavo can follow up with a real phone call if an app alert is not answered.
Connect your calendar (optional). Link Google Calendar or Outlook and timed events get a call before they start, with the event title read out.
Add Custom Reminders. For anything not on a calendar, write the reminder exactly as you want to hear it, pick a time and set it to repeat daily, weekly on chosen days or monthly.
Who Gets the Most Out of Spoken Reminders
People who miss notifications. If you have dozens of unread badges, one more will not help. See why a call works better in our ADHD reminder app guide. Busy professionals. A call five minutes before a meeting reads out who it is with, so you join on time without checking your calendar. Medication routines. Hearing "Take your blood pressure tablet" at the same time each day is harder to ignore; see medication reminder phone calls. Older relatives. A regular phone call is something everyone knows how to answer, with no app to learn. Mornings. A spoken call is also a strong wake-up call.
Voice Reminders for Family Members
You can create spoken reminders for someone else, such as a parent who needs to take medicine or a teenager with an early start. Add them as a contact; we text a 6-digit code to their phone and they read it to you to confirm they want the calls. Each call says who set it up and lets them press 9 to stop future calls. Calls to a contact are part of Premium.
Comparing Options
Built-in tools like Siri or Google Assistant can set reminders by voice, but they still deliver them as a notification. Remindavo is the reverse: you can set reminders however you like, and they arrive as a spoken call. For a wider comparison, read the best reminder apps that call you.
