Why Remindavo

Your +81 number gets a real phone call

Japanese business culture places exceptional weight on punctuality — arriving late to a meeting is a serious breach of professional etiquette. Remindavo calls your Docomo, au, SoftBank, or Rakuten Mobile number before every meeting so you're always on time.

All Japanese networks supported

NTT Docomo, au (KDDI), SoftBank, Rakuten Mobile, and MVNOs including IIJmio, OCN Mobile ONE, mineo, UQ Mobile, and Y!mobile — all +81 numbers are supported.

Fixed JST — no DST surprises

Japan abolished Daylight Saving Time in 1952. JST is UTC+9 year-round — no spring-forward, no fall-back, no seasonal recalculation. Remindavo reads your calendar events as UTC and calls you at exactly the right JST time, every time.

Google Calendar & Outlook

Connect your calendar in 60 seconds. Every meeting — client calls, team standups, international video conferences, investor meetings — gets an automatic phone call reminder in advance.

APPI / PPC Compliant

Compliant with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI, 個人情報保護法), enforced by the Personal Information Protection Commission (PPC). EU adequacy decision in force since January 2019.

FAQ

Questions about using Remindavo in Japan

Does Remindavo work with Japanese phone numbers?

Yes. Remindavo fully supports Japanese phone numbers starting with +81, across all four MNOs — NTT Docomo, au (KDDI), SoftBank, and Rakuten Mobile — and the full MVNO ecosystem including IIJmio, OCN Mobile ONE, mineo (triple-carrier), UQ Mobile, and Y!mobile. Mobile numbers use 070/080/090 domestic prefixes; enter your number in international format (+81-70-XXXX-XXXX) or domestic format — Remindavo accepts both. A test call is placed immediately after you add your number to confirm delivery.

Is Remindavo compliant with Japan's APPI data protection law?

Yes. Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI — 個人情報の保護に関する法律), last amended in 2020 (effective April 2022), is enforced by the Personal Information Protection Commission (PPC — 個人情報保護委員会). Japan also holds an EU adequacy decision since January 2019, enabling free personal data flows between Japan and the EU. Remindavo collects only what is necessary to deliver the service — calendar event times and your phone number — and never sells or shares personal data. Request data deletion at any time at web.remindavo.com/delete-account.

What time zone does Remindavo use for Japan?

Japan uses Japan Standard Time (JST, UTC+9) year-round. Japan abolished Daylight Saving Time in 1952 — JST is permanently fixed at UTC+9 with no seasonal transitions. Remindavo reads your Google Calendar or Outlook event times as absolute UTC timestamps and calls your Japanese number at the correct JST time automatically. No time zone configuration is required.

How does JST compare to other major time zones?

JST (UTC+9) is fixed year-round. Key offsets: same as Korean Standard Time (KST, UTC+9); 1 hour behind Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST, UTC+10), 2 hours behind AEDT in southern hemisphere summer; 8 hours ahead of Central European Time (CET, UTC+1) in winter and 7 hours ahead of CEST in summer; 9 hours ahead of UK GMT in winter and 8 hours ahead of BST in summer; 14 hours ahead of US Eastern Standard Time (EST) and 13 hours ahead of EDT. Because Japan has no DST, these offsets shift only when the counterpart time zone transitions — never from the Japanese side. Remindavo handles all UTC arithmetic automatically.

Can I use Remindavo with a Japanese business number or office landline?

Remindavo is designed for mobile phone numbers — it places a voice call to the number you register. Japanese mobile numbers (070/080/090, +81-70/80/90) work fully. Japanese landlines (+81 followed by a one- or two-digit area code, e.g. 03 for Tokyo, 06 for Osaka, 052 for Nagoya) also receive voice calls technically, but we recommend using your mobile number so the reminder reaches you regardless of where you are when the call fires. Remindavo places a test call during setup to confirm your number is reachable.
